Our prints are made to hold up through 100+ washes with no fading. That number assumes you don't actively try to destroy them. Here's the short version of how to care for a slogan tee, hoodie or sweatshirt, and why each step matters.
1. Turn it inside out
Before it goes in the machine, turn the garment inside out. The print never rubs against zips, jeans or the drum, which is where most cracking and fading starts.
2. Wash cold
Machine wash at 30°C or below. Cold water is gentler on the print and on the cotton, keeps colours from bleeding, and stops shrinking. Your tee doesn't need hot water to get clean; your electricity bill will thank you too.
3. Skip the bleach and the fabric softener
Bleach eats colour. Softener coats the print and can make it peel over time. A normal, mild detergent is all it needs. Wash with similar colours, especially the first few times.
4. Dry low, or hang it
Hang it to dry, or tumble on a low setting. High heat is the number one cause of shrinking and of prints that go dull. If you use a dryer, take it out while it's still very slightly damp and let it finish on a hanger.
5. Never iron the print
If it needs ironing, turn it inside out and use a low setting. Never put a hot iron directly on the print. And no dry cleaning: the chemicals aren't kind to printed designs.
Caps are different
Our six-panel caps don't go in the washing machine. Spot clean, or hand wash in cold water, then let them air dry on their own shape with the brim down. No tumble dryer. Store them flat or on a hook rather than crushed in a bag, and the brim keeps its curve.
The cheat sheet
| Do | Don't |
|---|---|
| Inside out | Wash it with zips and denim facing the print |
| Cold, 30°C max | Hot washes |
| Mild detergent | Bleach or fabric softener |
| Hang dry or tumble low | High-heat drying |
| Iron inside out, low | Iron directly on the print |
Do that, and the only thing that fades will be the memory of why you bought it. The opinion stays.
